Hey ChessKids,

Buckle up -- May and June are about to get VERY busy.

First up: The King of Puzzles May Challenge!

It's back again! And this time, ChessKid's puzzle contest is coming to your country! Are you ready to win a 6-month ChessKid Gold Membership?

It's the King of Puzzles Challenge -- and this time, with a twist! You may remember 2020's King of Puzzles Challenge. This year, we're taking it international.

Here's how it works:

The competition will begin on May 1st, 2021 at 12AM Pacific, & it will end on May 15th at 11:59PM Pacific. That gives you 15 days to participate! Once the competition begins, solve 100 puzzles as fast as you can. Then, enter your information into the google form at the bottom of this article

If you are the first ChessKid from your country to solve 100 puzzles, you'll win a 6-month gold membership FREE! We'll also keep a record of the winner from each country, of course.

Next: The Intercontinental ChessKid FIDE Challenge!

Announcing the return of the most international event in ChessKid history!

ChessKid is pleased to announce that following the tremendous success of the first edition, the Intercontinental ChessKid FIDE Challenge will return! This second edition will be June 19, 2021 and is once again open to any child aged 12 and below on Earth or in any place in the Milky Way galaxy.

In the first edition in January, 1900 kids from 86 countries competed. Can we get to 2500 kids from 100 countries? We think so! If so it will once again break the record for the largest event in ChessKid history.

And before you ask, yes, top grandmasters are back to give mini-camps as prizes. Including five-time world champion Vishy Anand.

To Register:

  • Click here for the earlier "Eastern Edition" (beginning at 9am UK)
  • Click here for the later "Western Edition" (beginning at 9am Pacific US)

And Finally: The ChessKid Youth Speed Chess Championship (#2)!

ChessKid.com is proud to announce the second-annual ChessKid Youth Speed Chess Championship for Summer, 2021. Like its sister events the Chess.com Speed Chess Championship and Chess.com Junior Speed Chess Championship, the event will feature a series of one-on-one matches but the field will be comprised of the top youth players in the world aged 10 and under.

Returning this year will be defending championNM Ryo Chen, who still meets the age restriction (players must be aged 10 or under as of January 1, 2021).

Here are the eight confirmed players. Ages are as of January 1, 2021 and ratings are based on the March FIDE and US Chess ratings lists. For international players, only the FIDE rating is used for seeding. For U.S. players, an average of FIDE and US Chess ratings is used.

  • NM Ryo Chen, USA (10 years old, 2223)
  • CM Ilan Schnaider, Argentina (9 years old, 2080)
  • CM Lev Zverev, Russia (10 years old, 2023)
