The longest chess game lasted over 200 moves. More precisely 269 moves. This took place on February 17th, 1989 (34 years ago) The game took 20+ hours to claim a draw. But there is a 50 Move Rule stating no captures or pawn moves for 50 moves preventing chess games going on forever. The endgame was a Rook and a Bishop against a Rook which is a theoretically hard ending.
