Happy Thanksgiving 2020!!!
Like with every Thanksgiving season, there comes the haste to get the right-sized turkey and get all the food prepared, find the best time to visit or be visited by friends or family, and watch football. Though COVID may hinder this year's plans, there is still an opportunity to ponder the long-established question: “What are you thankful for?” As carried out by the founders of this holiday, today is a time set aside to reflect the blessings the past year has brought. There is a plethora of things people say that they are thankful for: family, pets, sports, food, friendships, and so on and so forth. However, does this centuries-old tradition actually compel one to really express genuine thankful or give thanks out of obligation?
Though set as a one-day a year celebration, Thanksgiving should be a continual practice. Thanksgiving is not simply a single day of saying thanks; it is also a lifestyle of giving thanks in words, deeds, or even gifts, hence the word giving in Thanksgiving.
Furthermore, Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to exhibit our gratitude to God for the mercies He bestowed in our lives everyday. For this reason, thanking God must be done with throughout the year. Therefore, as we prepare for the Thanksgiving season, we must not forget to thank the One who sustains us with daily bread and the air we breathe; provides us the opportunity to be with our family and friends; and loves us enough to send His Son to take the penalty for our sins.
WHAT AM I THANKFUL FOR?
- I am thankful to God, who created me in His Image and provided a way for me to spend eternity with Him by sending His Son to atone for our sins (John 3:16-17); His Son Jesus, who lived a perfect life in order to become the perfect sacrifice in our stead; and His Spirit, who is the Encourager and source of our hope and peace in times of trouble and triumph.
- I am thankful for my family. I am so grateful for their investment in my life and the love we have for each other.
- I am thankful for my friends everywhere! Thank you for the relationships that last a lifetime!
Here's a MESSAGE to all my friends
