How do Chess.com classify accounts as cheater? And why are they always accurate?
What/How Cheaters Cheat?
Well to answer this question, we need to clarify, first of all, what the heck does it mean for cheating? Well, actually to cheat in chess, the matter can become very easy than you think. You don't need to download any apps and browse any kinds of top chess website. You just need to open another chess.com tab. You see, chess.com have a tile named as "Analysis", not only you can upload games for game review in analysis, you can also just play moves to allow the board themself to generate different move comment for you. To cheat in chess (I'm just telling the way how cheaters can cheat, not recommended for you to cheat, if your account vanishes, you can stare and cry), open analysis board, open a new chess game. And just make moves to see the top engine move, and then copy the top engine move by switching back into the game.
The Chess Algorithm:
Well, Chess.com actually already have an algorithm insde its origin code. And more closer investigations are needed by both Artificial Intelligence and Human Beings. It is more easier to investigate supicious account when the elo is lower, because when you open game review, a normal 400~500 (just for example) might have a accuracy rating of 66~80, but if the accuracy is higher than 95, Chess.com might verify you as a cheater. Wait a minute, what if you just played very neatly and nicely and you tried not to blunder and you just played very well at chess that you don't need any coach to help you. Well, not only the move depends, but also the time. GothamChess and Hikaru Nakmura, for instance, is both a good cheater catcher. Every time GothamChess played with a cheater, he focuses on his opponents time and sometimes find they play excellent moves while the time consume is nearly the same (normal cheater would need 10~11 seconds every move), this is the key reason how he find these accounts are suspicious. Chess.com simultaneously inspect EVERY chess game that is playing and happening in Chess.com right now but you just don't know. They not only observe positions but also the seconds on the clock. If the accuracy and time consume cannot really determine if the account is a cheater or not. They just observe your account secretly, see how your elo increases and decreases and how fast they did, and also see how many streaks of wins have you made. If they suspiciously suddenly increases like 400 elo suddenly in a very short time, they might be verified as a cheater, and if their winning streak is like 40 or 50 or something like that, they are done for. In addition, Chess.com have access to all information your account had. And to be honest, no matter how tricky these cheaters are, cheaters have no way to escape from getting caught. The Fair Play Policy in Chess.com counts as a prewarning for all accounts in Chess.com. But still, many of the cheaters are getting caught EVERY day, EVERY week.
The Reasons Why Cheaters Still Cheat Nowadays:
Now, what is the Reason for these cheaters to continue cheating. Haven't they already read the Fair Play Policy. And if not, at least they are already warned for cheating would cause a great damage to social credit and Chess.com Policy. Well, there are a few reasons, one is that they are not worried about getting caught because they can continue make accounts and the other is that they think that they could escape from being caught. But, Chess.com have unlimited eyes on everyone, because the algorithm is not by human, but by Artificial Intelligence. If you have had a time that you suddenly won a game while your opponent dramatically abandoned the game, you should be relieved because you are probably playing with a cheater. Now, what if they have unlimited accounts. Well, they can only cheat for ten times to their opponent, because I think Chess.com have limited account you can create (I only have 3 accounts tbh).
In summary, all cheaters have no escape, and due to their behavior online and their personal digital property, they would always be caught. Now, hundreds and thousands of crimes were being discovered, apples and bananas...
