It sounds a bit crazy, but it's true. In a period of just a few weeks, I have launched not one, but two podcasts! In this blog post I will tell you what they are about and what episodes have been posted so far.

The Chess News Podcast

The Chess News PodcastOn October 13, 2025, I first launched The Chess News Podcast. As the title reveals, this one is about chess news! I am providing weekly updates on what's happening in the chess world, including audio clips and, hopefully, also regular interviews with players in the near future.

Below you can find the episodes that I produced so far. The show can also be found on Apple and Spotify.

By now, it doesn't make much sense to go too deeply into the first three episodes. The fourth one, published a few hours ago, discusses Magnus Carlsen's victory at the Clutch Chess tournament in St.Louis, the three matches that were played this week in the Chess.com Speed Chess Championship, the start of the FIDE World Cup, two scientific articles related to chess, the Tata Steel Chess 2026 Masters line-up, and other news.

Masters and Matches

Masters and Matches podcastThen there is Masters and Matches, with the tag line 'Meet legendary chess players and relive historic events.' This one, I am making together with my good friend CM Arne Moll. Together, we will diving into different areas of chess history, a bit in the style of The Rest is History. We will be publishing less frequently, perhaps every three to four weeks.

In the first episode, we talk about the sixth and final match played between Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov: a rapid and blitz match in Valencia, Spain, in 2009. We both attended the event, which was also a festival about chess history. The episode includes clips from the players from back then. This show can also be found on Apple and Spotify.

If you like the podcasts, do subscribe and spread the word! Thank you!

Peter Doggers is Chess.com’s Senior Global Correspondent. Between 2007 and 2013, his website ChessVibes was a major source for chess news and videos, acquired by Chess.com in October 2013. The Guardian’s Leonard Barden described him as “widely regarded as the world’s best chess journalist.”
