Caro-Kann Trap in Quick Chess

I played in a rare quick-rated chess tournament at my club last night. The time control was G/10+3. For a group that usually plays G/90+5, let's just say it was an interesting night!

I ended up with an reasonable 2.5 of 5 points but In the first round, I played against an Expert who quickly dispatched me with this Caro-Kann opening trap.

The night was a blast but with a room filled with 20 old guys and just a few young guns, there were pieces and pawns hanging on nearly every board.

From 2012 to 2017 I pursued aggressive adult improvement (starting at age 43). I recorded my journey here as I gained over 400 rating points over two years, peaking at 1753 USCF in 2015. After taking a multi-year break to complete my doctorate, I returned to competitive chess in 2024.
