Johannes Zukertort: Artist of the Chessboard
"Johannes Zukertort, artist of the chessboard, as he was called by biographer Jimmy Adams, was the top chess player in the world for 56 separate months between August, 1878 and February, 1886, according to Chessmetrics. He was born in Poland, then lived in Berlin and London. Mentored by Adolf Anderssen, Zukertort was the great rival of the first official world champion Wilhelm Steinitz. Zukertort died at the age of only 45."
I am an independent publisher and beginning chess author. The above is an excerpt from my first chess book Learning Chess Middle-Game Attacking with the Classic Masters: Volume 1, which I wrote, edited, proofread, formatted, and marketed. I also designed its cover.
At the time of my last blog post on here, the book went to the #1 Best Seller slot for Amazon Kindle U.S. chess free eBooks for the last five days of August, and today, made it to #14 on the Amazon Kindle U.S. chess (paid) eBooks list. The book came out in paperback on October 16th. I have started my second chess book. I am working on a chapter on selected games of La Bourdonnais.
Here are videos which I made of selected Zukertort games, including his Immortal Game against Blackburne. I created the music, too, on the still-functional JamStudio application. I provide analysis, annotations, and commentary on each of these games in my book.
