Magnus Predictions | Performance of Candidates

Three [3] weeks ago, Magnus went on an interview with David Powell as they try to give insights to the 2024 FIDE Candidates.

Magnus and Powell shared thoughts about the Candidates on how will they perform based on their previous performances.

About the Tournament

The FIDE's Candidates 2024 is the biggest event to happen early this year. Deserving players received invitation to join the tournament. Whoever wins the tournaments claims the right to challenge for the crown and prestige title of the reigning Men and Women's Champion GM's Ding Liren and Ju Wenjun, respectively.

Magnus Prediction

Magnus prediction [based on their performance/s on previous events] prior to the event goes as follows: Caruana and Nakamura will most likely going to win the tournament; Nepomniachtchi, the gatekeeper of the FIDE tournament, will perform a little less and goes only as the top contender; Firoujza and Praggnanandhaa will only do well; while the other two [2] Indian Candidates, Gukesh and Vidit will do poorly; And lastly, Abasov is in for a bad time.

Unanticipated Outcomes?

Crowd's favorite Hikaru Nakamura bounces back as he shares the trail with Pragg and Caruana. Gukesh and Nepo is co-leading the tournament. There's only a few more rounds left to determine who will challenge the current World Champion GM Ding Liren.

The current standings of the tournament after round 10 is quite surprising. But as surprising as it may seem in comparison to the predictions done by Magnus and Powell, the dynamics of Chess players and the double round robin factored a lot, resulted to a more interesting outcomes.
