White successfully gained an advantage in the opening after taking the Queen's off the board and picked up an undefended pawn on move 7. This lead was held until the move 14 ... Bc5. Black's idea was to remove the defender of the F4 pawn or at least make White retreat the Bishop so that it blocked the Rook on D1. Black however overlooked a key tactic White could use to exploit the newly placed bishop on C5.
