The popular mistake of medium-level chess people is late or premature castling. So, remember the rules:
- If it is attack on the pre-castling position, do not do this!
Do not castle king, if the pre-castling position is opened. It can help your opponent to attack your king.
Just an example. As you can see, black king was attacked by white pieces. Why? Black didn't do the castling in past? when king was defended.
And, in this example black didn't defend position, they did castling. But, white has devoloped their pieces and attcked black.
And remember this: do not open your king, if it is pawn attack. Attack with pawns only if the castling is different.
Next: blocked pieces.
Blocked pieces can be due to the poor pawns position.
Black mustn't move b6 and Nd7. Now white can devolop pieces first and attack.
Who sayed, black must castling on king's part? No. they blocked white bishop and important, they can do the long castling! If you can't castle your king in opposite part, do not do that.
Next: "halls" in position
.black won a pawn, due to holl in castling position! Or the example:
White have to defend, they can not attack. The important part, defending in the part of board where you are not stronger, and attack where stronger.
