Welcome! Today I will teach you 15 helpful chess tips to improve at your chess skills. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Chess is an old game which was made in the 6th century and people have been playing it so much that every time they play, they learn something new. And here are 15 chess tips that you need to know to play and understand chess good.

15: Don’t Let Your Opponent Castle:

This tip is very useful if want to break your opponent’s defense and checkmate fast because if you trade queens with your opponent in a straight line, you trade queens and if no pieces is protecting the queen, then king is forced to take and now they can’t castle both sides.

14: Free Your Rooks:

This tip is very useful for the endgame because if your rooks were trapped and your opponent has a passed pawn, then you immediately lose after their pawn is going to promote and win the game and also free the rooks to checkmate early in the Middlegame.

13: Take All Over The Center:

This is pretty helpful if you wanna start out good once you castle and if you take over the center then the opponent can’t and once you develop I’m sure that you will win by developing many pieces in the game to fork, take your opponent’s pieces, and checkmate the king

12: Don’t Waste Time:

Indeed this is why you lose you chess because you won’t play! Look, If you want to play bullet chess, play fast! Just remember: if you are playing bullet or blitz (3 min), play fast and think about: Do I have checks, checkmate, captures, and forks.

11: Look At The Board Before Playing:

After you play, there might be some things that you missed like, a free piece or checkmate. Move after move after move look if there are any Captures, Checkmates, And Sacrifices to win the game.

10: Think Before You Trade:

If you are trading pieces always think about: Will I gain advantage? Will I ruin my opponent’s structure? Is it a fair trade? With thinking about that, Time to trade!

9: Never Resign:

Look, I know sometimes you blunder pieces like your queen but just follow two  simple rules. Never resign and also if you blunder then keep as many pieces as you can because the the more pieces you have, the move attack and checkmate plans there are.

8: Defend Your King:

Defend is not easy because in your opponent’s side they have pieces that can checkmate you so what I think you should do is castle with your queen attacking your opponent and close to your king at the same time.

7: Develop Pieces:

By what I mean “develop”, Move your pieces out to the center like your bishops and knights. Rooks will be for the Middlegame after casting in Kingside or Queenside.

6: Control The Diagonals:

Once you take your bishops out follow this important thing to win your games. Control The Diagonals, which if you do with the bishop then your opponent will have no space and it’s easy to checkmate.

5: Focus Mostly On Your Opponent’s King:

Once you think your king is completely safe that no piece can come through, then you have to attack the king to checkmate and win the game.

4: Play With All Your Pieces:

Here’s how it should go, as this is gonna go, develop the knights, first, bishops, second, and then castle to get your rooks out, then your queen for the attack and that’s checkmate!

3: Don’t Move Your Queen To Early:

If you decide to move out your queen to early instead when you castle, there are really high chances that your queen will be gotten and you will lose the game mostly so what you want to do is move your queen when you castle to safety.

2: Sacrifice:

When you have a plan to sacrifice, do it because you will destroy your opponent and think of sacrificing smaller pieces to the higher pieces like for example, first sacrifice a pawn and if you can, then sacrifice another piece if you have an idea.

1: Have A Plan:

Everybody playing should have a plan when they plan a move like for example, once you move e4, you have some plans like the 4 move checkmate or move a knight or even setting your castle up! And also don’t worry because everyone plays like a plan.

And there you go, 15 chess tips.
