Why didn’t I put this in my other blog? I don’t know.
Anyways, The 1900’s was an incredible chess time to be alive because seeing all the interesting and incredible chess players play each other at a time. And them dying, the worst people have seen.
1: Mikhail Botvinnik
Mikhail Botvinnik, Russian-Soviet chess grandmaster, died at the age of 83 which is very long. He was the sixth world champion and held 5 world titles from 3 different reigns. Instead of chess, he worked as an electrical engineer and computer scientist. He also had a math degree. His nickname was to be called “Patriarch of the Soviet Chess School”. Now, with enough information, let’s see how the “Patriarch of the Soviet Chess School” died.
Rushed in the hospital, Botvinnik died of pancreatic cancer in May 1995.
2: Alexander Alekhine
Alexander Alekhine, a French professional chess player, died at the age of 53 which is really low. Alexander Alekhine was the forth world champion and by the time he was literally 22, he was one of the strongest chess players. His nickname was to be “Ale-and-Wine” or “Alekwine”.Without further ado, let’s see how “Ale-and-Wine” or “Alekwine” died.
He was chocking on meat and sent to the hospital. The doctors found a three-inch-long piece of unchewed meat was discovered blocking his windpipe.
3: Paul Morphy
Paul Morphy, an American professional chess player died in the age of 47! Our lowest in this series so far! Anyways, he was an unofficial world champion but he was a brilliant man having 3 brilliant moves in one game. His nickname was “The Pride and Sorrow of Chess”. Anyways let’s see how “The Pride and Sorrow of Chess” died.
He had suffered a stroke brought on by entering cold water after a long walk in the midday heat.
4: Adolf Anderssen
Adolf Anderssen, A German chess master died at the age of 60 which when you think about it… Not that long. Anderssen became the most successful tournament player in Europe, winning over half the events he entered, including the very strong Baden-Baden 1870 chess tournament. I couldn’t find his nickname but he had a really great chess game which not with Garry Kasparov, but it was named “The Immortal”. Anyways, let’s see how Adolf Anderssen died.
On March 13, 1879, Adolf died of a heart attack.
