First update of the year..
Well there is good news and bad news..
I have started a new job on my arrival back in Sydney, took me 4 days to find work, it's only a factory job but it pays the bills. Similar stuff to what I did at my old job at the alluminium extrusion factory, except where I'm working now deals more with finishing (anodising/powdercoat), than actual manufacturing like I was doing before.
I'm going to an interview tommorrow which is for another factory production role however it's a developing role so by the middle of the year the successful applicant will be a supervisor of sorts and there could even be further development, but we'll see what happens. I only really need money at the moment but if I could get some experience in some roles which require a bit more responsibility than simply pushing buttons all day that would be great.
The bad news is, the job I started last Friday has a position on afternoon shift my boss wants me to fill, so I won't be able to go to chess on Monday and Thursday nights anymore, and will only be able to play in rated weekend tournaments around the state. I'll still try to get my 1200ACF but I'm going to lose out on alot of practice and rated club tournaments.
I started reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand while on holiday in New Zealand, and I'm really enjoying the book. It's a big bugger but I think I'll be able to finish it within the next 2 weeks. This is my favourite speech from the book so far:
