July AMA Answers + Update!
Hi, friends!
I've attached the video I used to answer AMA (ask me anything) questions. Thank you for the very interesting submissions, and I'm looking forward to doing this monthly!

I did want to make a couple of announcements. On more of a "personal" note, I will be playing in the US Class Championships this weekend in Houston! Over 300 players have signed up, and I think some of you will be there, looking forward to this experience! And as always, I will be recapping the games on my blog, and likely my Youtube channel!
After that, I'm unsure of when my next tournament is. I do have possibilities in August, but that's also the month I'm moving into Baylor University! There are still some unknowns as far as the process goes. Once school starts, I still want to play in tournaments, but I have yet to see what "distractions" await me!
Sounds like classes will be difficult and time-consuming, but I believe if I can still put in 30-60 min per day of quality chess study, I should be good to go! Tournaments will sort of be on a case-by-case basis, and I'll give you all updates as usual!
From a content standpoint, I will be backpedaling my "Journey to getting better at chess" series, as I mentioned in my AMA video. Not because I don't want to get better, the opposite is true... I just believe when I do post about my progress and study, it puts somewhat more pressure on me to perform, and it doesn't look good (at least to myself) when I flop in a tournament lol. I'll still give updates, and I sometimes post my progress in my fan club, so feel free to check it out!
One more note... I'm working on a new blog series! My series will be individual posts on commonly asked chess questions I get. I think it's pretty self-explanatory
. Here are a few generic chess questions I get frequently that I plan to post about!
- What got me into chess?
- Why am I still playing in college/as an adult?
- My best chess game
- My best chess tournament
- Favorite chess books
- Favorite chess players
- What are IRL tournaments like?
- Maybe other random questions, like
or
, O-O or O-O-O
If you have any other suggestions, please let me know! If your question is more "thinking outside the box", I'd recommend saving it for my next AMA!
Anyway, thank you for reading, and have a great day! ![]()
