The Counterintuitive Move -- Calculation is Key!

Hi guys!

Just finished a 30|0 game. I won! However, there was a certain line that was not played in the game. I was black, look at the diagram and following text for more details

In the position above, I have a slightly worse position as Black because of White's space advantage. I played 14... Qc7, which maintains my worse position. However, there was a certain move I considered, rejected, then the computer suggested, alongside a move I had not considered at all, etc.

d5 was a move I considered, but instantly rejected cause of e5, and I assumed I had to retreat my Knight and nurse my worse position. However, I feel like I could have calculated the win back of a pawn had I known to look for it. Lots of opportunities are missed because we reject moves which are not natural to the position. Coaches, if you have any sharp strong students, feel free to give this to them as a calculation exercise!  And to close, my opponent tactically blundered in the end. Can you see how to win material? (pawn b2-b4 was played).
