Open Game: Beginnings
Out of all the openings I have studied in detail, the open game continues to be one of my favorite. The open game is a famous chess opening in which both kings pawns are brought forward to the middle, and either color has an equal chance of winning statistically.
The open game has so much potential for game variation, but the most common follow-up move for white utizlizes their knights.
Less common follow-up moves from white include using its bishop as protection for its king side pawn:
The same reasonings holds with using the queen as protection/offensive, ampified because of the queens enormous usefulness in mid-game and end-game tatics.
