A beginner's look at chess

Chess is daunting, its so scary, so many pieces aaaahh...

You probably have encountered situations where you find yourself scrambling to deal with all types of attacks from all sides and think, "wait that's not what I thought, ohhh I totally forgot about the bishop, oh no and now my rook will be next!"

Well its not uncommon in fact, sometimes we are so focused on one part of the board that we completely forget about the other pieces and simply fail to see the obvious threat.

Let me walk you through one such example.

White thought he trapped the knight on f6 and now the knight has to go back or risk being on the dangerous king side, but white forgot about the vulnerable g2 pawn.
Black captures the pawn on g2 because white "forgot" that attacking the black knight opens up the diagonal for the bishop and this happens.
uh oh! now rook is going to fall next!
Now, now you don't have to worry. Look at the position carefully.
Yes, you see it don't you. The black bishop will be trapped once you attack it with your own bishop. See? You are fine now.
Yes you did lose the rook, but you have your bishop eyeing on the same diagonal now and guess what's there.
Now you suddenly feel a little less unhappy because not only did you capture the bishop on h1, you now have his rook under attack and your same pawn move (5. e5) that cost you a rook is now attacking the knight like it was meant to do.
Now, black has to save his rook by standing in your bishops way, what a nice way to force an exchange. Haha you can now laugh a bit because you exchange your knight for his knight and still keep the same threat on the poor rook on a8. Here, take a look.
Not only did white capture the bishop, white now forces black to respond aggressively with (9. ...c6)
This was an example where you took advantage of some inaccuracies on your opponent's part and actually remained calm. Remaining calm and collected will help you everywhere - be it chess or life in general.
This is my first time writing a blog on chess. Hope you had a good time. Thank you for reading.
