Today was a special day for one of my students.

Vincent the Great, my 11-year-old student from the USA, had the chance to meet GM Hikaru Nakamura during a strong OTB scholastic event in New York. For a young chess player, moments like this become lifelong memories and powerful motivation for future work.

Vincent is currently playing a very strong tournament and gaining valuable over-the-board experience against excellent opposition. Events like these teach much more than chess moves — they teach focus, discipline, confidence, and how to handle pressure in real competition.

If you are near the Big Apple and would like to see Nakamura, Vincent, and many talented young players in action, here is the event link:

For players preparing for OTB tournaments, one important step is understanding chess language and terminology. Knowing concepts, expressions, and tournament vocabulary is part of becoming a serious chess player.

A very good resource for learning chess terminology is here:

Thank you,
Coach Darko
