I started playing chess when I was eight and did not ever actually study the game of chess up until more recently.  In 2004, I remember meeting a friend who I eventually started playing chess with, and we actually created a club at Starbucks by ourselves where the two of us played.  At first, it was just two people.  My friend and I.  We battled it out.  He was a lot better than I was, and I could never beat him.  We played thousands of speed games in a span of about 16 years.  Different people came and went, and now the only original people there are my friend and me.  Those days are like a blur to me.  I've played a lot of different types of players.  Players that make moves fast, and try speed tactics to run your clock out.  Someone who takes his time to think will never consider those speed moves.  But, we were playing speed chess, and I learned how to make really good moves in a short period of time.  Although, depending on my concentration level, I often miss things.

When I first got my chess.com account I bought my new iPad and I wanted my friend to try it out and see how fast he can get a high rating in blitz and bullet.  I don't know why, but for whatever reason, it wouldn't let me sign out of my chess.com so that he can play on his account.  We tried several minutes to figure it out but to no avail.  So, he played on my account.  That's why I start out rated about 1500 then go down to about 1200 after awhile.  For those of your wondering.

So after I talked about this time period with my friend I decided to look at past games, and see if I can figure out my thinking process back when I was lower rated.  So here I go.  First game:

Here is another game at around the same timeframe, a loss that happened because I ran out of time.  I don't play 3-minute games anymore for a reason.
Now I am going to Fast Forward a bit to see how I got worse!

For some reason the writing tools of this site around working correctly, so I'll end for now.  Stay tuned for Part 2, on how long it took me to get better!  I say something is strange about my early games.  It just seems like people at that rating nowadays are a lot worse.  Oh well, until next time!
