Who is Vahap Şanal?
Vahap Şanal (born 26 May 1998, Izmir) is a Turkish chess grandmaster. He is the youngest Turk to become a grandmaster. He became the Turkish Champion in the Turkish Chess Championship held in 2019 and 2020. He took first place in the first table of the 2022 Turkish Chess Super League with 9/12 points and 2796 ELO performance. In the second round of the 2023 FIDE World Cup, Nodirbek Abdusattorov eliminated Anton Korobov in the third round and became the first Turkish athlete in the history of the world cup to advance to the fourth round.
