Introduction

This blog is designed for novice players and those rated below 500 on Chess.com, guiding you through the absolutely most crucial endgames to master. For those of you at the lower boundary of this rating bracket, take your time by learning and knowing these positions perfectly. For those at the upper end, perfect these positions so you can execute them flawlessly in quick, blitz and bullet games!

Staircases/Sideways Staircases Mates(QQvsK,QRvsK,RRvsK)

1.1 The Two Queens(Staircase Mate)

The goal is to move the Queens in tandem to create a shrinking "box" or "fence" for the enemy King, pushing it toward the 1st/8th Rank(Staircase/Ladder Mate) or the a/h File.(Sideways Staircase/Sideways Ladder Mate). The first Queen moves to a rank or file that is far away from the enemy King,(no need if the queens are protected) immediately cutting off a large part of the board. This cuts the King off from a significant portion of the board. The two Queens take turns advancing, always maintaining a one-rank or one-file distance from each other, effectively "checking" the King to the next line. The Queens resemble a staircase, or a ladder, that the King is forced to climb backwards.Once the King is on the back rank (or in the corner), the final Queen moves to the edge line to deliver the checkmate.

1.2 The Two Queens(Sideways Staircase Mate)
1.3 Queen & Rook(Staircase Mate)
Puzzle 1
Your first puzzle! What is the correct option we learned!?I won't analyze the moves. You need to understand by your own this. However if you have a question, feel free to write a comment!I will answer in less than 24 hours!(Play the Staircase Mate)
1.4 The Ladder Mate
Occasionally, your pieces may find themselves arranged differently than in the standard staircase pattern. In these situations, you can instead execute this alternative technique, which is known as the "ladder mate." It is important to realize that this method is neither superior nor inferior to the staircase mate, but being proficient in both checkmates will prove advantageous when more material remains on the board!
1.5 The Two Rook Mate
Our final checkmate that does not need the King uses two Rooks. We still want to use the staircase checkmate pattern, but because Rooks are unable to guard pieces on diagonals, we must play a few extra moves in the middle of the game to get the checkmate.

King and Queen Mate

While this is not the quickest way to checkmate with only a Queen and King remaining, it is absolutely the simplest method. So, how do we force him down the board? Our main goal is to trap the Black King in a box that gets smaller and smaller, and then deliver the final checkmate.

King and Rook Mate

Learning something you'll need letter.Opposition
King and Rook Mate
First, I will show the classic, older way to checkmate using only the King and Rook (which can take a very long time). In the next lessons, we will learn faster ways. Here, the main goal is to keep forcing the Black King back by taking away more and more rows from him. To make this happen, we must achieve the Opposition against the Black King.
Instead of using the previous method (which was very slow), we will now checkmate the King by squeezing him into a smaller and smaller box. The main idea to remember is that the enemy's escape route is shut. So with every move we make, we should not worry about the exact way we shrink the box, but only that we are shrinking the overall box!

Now, let's see what happens if Black plays smarter and realizes that moving toward any of the four walls will quickly lead to a checkmate.

💡 PRO TIP: If your goal is to survive as long as possible in any endgame, keep your King in the center of the board. It is much simpler to be checkmated when you are stuck against a wall than when you are in the middle of the board.

Queen and Minor pieces vs King

Queen & Bishop vs King
The win is simple as we can play the K&Q Mate. But with the bishop the job is much easier.First, you need to force the king in a corner square by moving your queen in a knight distance. When the king finnaly goes to the corner you move your bishop to control the large diagonal and give mate with the queen.
WARNING:If the king isn't on a corner square DON'T move your bishop to the large diagonal. You'll stalemate the king.Instead play a waiting move and then move your bishop.
Queen and Knight Mate
The win is simple as we can play the K&Q Mate. But with the knight the job is much easier.First, you need to force the king in a corner square by moving your queen in a knight distance. When the king finnaly goes to the corner you move your knight to a square that can supprot the queen and give mate with the queen.
WARNING:If the king isn't on a corner square DON'T move your knight two square sfar away from the king. You'll stalemate the king.Instead play a waiting move and then move your knight unless the move comes with check then you have mate in 2 in most cases.

Note:Whatever move you play is correct unless you don't stalemate.Practise with the computer those position,so you can play whatever you want.
Stalemate is painful! As paiful as a knee injury!

Thanks for learing with me!
Stay healthy!
Stay safe!
Have a nice day!
And good luck to your games!
