I played the Winter Olympics Sports!
Dear readers,
Welcome once more to my news series where I will try to beat the bots of the month! So,today we will cover how to beat the February bots!
Every month,Chess.com releases five new bots. These typically range in rating from 250 to 3000(or even more!)
This month,February, has 5 bots rated 350-2850.The bots are based on the Winter Olympic sports, which started the 6th of February and they will end the 22nd of February.
The country that is hosting them is Italy(one of my favourites!),specifically the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina, located in Nothern Italy(according to my geography skills,if I'm wrong ,please correct me
).

Right now,on the 19th of February the current leaderboard is the following one: (Top 10)

Table of Contents
This month,we have a theme for the Winter Olympics and a new chess set of pieces. You don't know what I'm talking about?
Let me explain: Sometimes Chess.com will also make a new background and chess set to go with the theme of the month.
Simple and understandable!
Bot #1:
Curler
Rating:350
Weakness:Tactics,Strategies,Endgames
Very good at:Blundering Pieces
Curler is a silver-haired Canadian with a neatly groomed gray beard and a warm, steady gaze that suggests he’s spent a lifetime on the ice. In Canada, curling is a game of extreme precision and "weight," where players slide heavy granite stones toward a target; while Curler is likely a master of the rink, that tactical skill hasn't quite translated to the chessboard yet. With a 350 Elo, he’s a friendly beginner who plays with more heart than strategy, making him the perfect polite opponent for a relaxed game.
Bot #2
Bobsled Team
Rating:800
Weakness:Tactics,Endgames(better than Curler)
Very good at:Forks,pins and skewers
The Bobsled Team is a high-energy crew from Jamaica consisting of Bob, Bobbi, Roberta, and Justin. Clad in their iconic racing helmets, they bring the legendary "Cool Runnings" spirit from the tropical heat to the frozen track. In Jamaica, bobsledding is a true underdog story built on explosive power and perfect synchronization. While they are fearless at 150 km/h, their 800 Elo suggests they are still finding their footing on the chessboard. They play with a fast, aggressive rhythm, but they're prone to "crashing" into a tactical blunder if you keep your cool.
Bot #3
Figure Skater
Rating:1350
Weakness:Tactics,Endgames(better than Bobsled Team)
Very good at:Attacking the king

Meet Figure Skater, a poised competitor from France who looks like she just stepped off the ice after a flawless performance. With her hair in a tight, professional bun and her teal dress sparkling, she carries that classic French "artistic" flair into every game. In the world of skating, everything is about balance and rhythm—traits she brings directly to the board. At 1350 Elo, she isn’t just playing for fun; she’s a sharp intermediate who moves her pieces with the calculated precision of a triple jump. She’s usually "ice-cold" and focused, but don’t be surprised if a bit of a fiery temper flares up if you manage to break her concentration.
Bot #4
Snowboarder
Rating:1800
Weakness:Endgames(better than Figure Skater)
Very good at: Predicting the next moves

With her bright blonde hair peeking out from an orange beanie and cool turquoise goggles pushed up, Snowboarder looks like she just finished a sunset session on the mountain. Representing the USA, she carries the fearless, freestyle spirit of a sport her country helped pioneer and dominate. On the slopes, it’s all about catching air and finding a "steezy" flow, but on the board, she is surprisingly intense. At 1800 Elo, she’s a serious expert who trades her "chill" mountain vibes for sharp, master-level tactics. She’s known to throw a few playful roasts your way while you play, so you’ll need to stay focused if you want to survive her high-speed attack.
Bot #5
Goalie
Rating:2850
Weakness:None?!
Very good at:Everything?!

Behind the heavy teal-and-white mask is Goalie, the final and most formidable challenge of the "Frozen Five" from Sweden. In Sweden, ice hockey is a way of life, and the goalie is the backbone of the team—a role that requires total focus and "brick-wall" nerves. He brings that same impenetrable iciness to the board, treating every square like his crease and making sure absolutely nothing gets past him. With an elite 2850 Elo, he’s not just playing a game; he’s an expert-level wall of defense that can outplay almost anyone. You might find a way to test him, but with his master-level precision, scoring a "goal" against this Swede is one of the toughest feats on the mountain.
I can't honestly beat him....excect...
If I use once again 1min bullet time control. This time without takebacks!
15/15 crowns overall!!
The Frozen Five are like a big, chaotic family of winter sports fans who just happen to play chess. You’ve got Curler at the start, the kind-hearted guy who’s just there for the coffee and a chat, all the way up to Goalie, the Swedish brick wall who takes every match as seriously as an Olympic final. In between, you’ve got the high-speed energy of the Jamaican Bobsledders, the artistic flair of the French Figure Skater, and the "chill but lethal" vibe of the American Snowboarder. They each bring a bit of their home and their sport’s spirit to the board, making the climb feel less like a grind and more like a trip around the world.
Good luck on the mountain—it’s a long way up, but at least the company is great.
