The London 1922 tournament was marked by the beginning of the intense rivalry between Alekhine and Capablanca. Andy Soltis notes that "Capablanca won his first six games and Alekhine won his first five. When they met in round nine the Cuban stood at 7- 1 and Alekhine was a half-point behind"[(Geza Maroczy, London 1922. Foreword by Andy Soltis (Milfore, CT: Russell Enterprises, 2010), 5]. Capablanca won the tournament over Alekhine, 13-11 1/2. But the die was cast and hard-fought battles in the future were underway!

We have the tournament book by Geza Maroczy, London 1922 (Russell Enterprises, 2015): https://www.amazon.com/London-1922-21st-Century-Maroczy/dp/1888690615/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=london+1922&qid=1670696361&s=books&sr=1-1
