Tigran Petrosian
Tigran Petrosian (1929-1984) was World Champion from 1963-1969.
Petrosian's style was said to mean "he preferred non-committal play, gradually improving the position of his men, and keeping his options open so that he was ready to pounce when the time was ripe. In the opening phase he did not strive unduly for the initiative, seeking scope for maneuver rather than sharp play" [David Hooper and Kenneth Whyld, The Oxford Companion to Chess (New York: Oxford University Press, 1987), 248].
I hope you enjoy this Crossword on this fine player and Champion.
