In his fine piece on 'All the World Chess Champions,' Nathaniel Green opens by commenting that "only 20 players in the history of chess have held the official title of world champion, 16 of which held the "classical" title" (https://www.chess.com/article/view/world-chess-champions).

Now that our attention is turned to the World Chess Championship match, I thought it would be nice to think of the twenty Chess World Champions.
