One hundred days of Adult Chess Improvement #40

How do you develop good thinking habits?

For example, imagine that you have identified that you tend to focus on your own plans and overlook the threats and ideas of your opponent. 

An unusual approach might be to start talking to yourself. Aloud. Obviously this is something you can only during your online games. But it might be a novel way to cement the habit of first considering why your opponent made the move he did.

Perhaps you will appear, well, mad. But to whom? 

And anyway, adult chess improvement is nothing if not  a little crazy.


My daily study schedule has been temporarily suspended. Read into that what you will.
