Kramnik's Tactical Trek (failed)
Today, the somewhat strong (2725 ELO average) Dortmund Super-tournament began with a BANG... While the other three games were drawn, GM Vladimir Kramnik (2812) was upset in round 1 by GM Vladimir Fedoseev (2726)!
With limited time, I did check out the game and in my opinion, Kramnik displayed a passive response to the Caro Kann, then right out of the opening, made his aggressive intentions known.
When all was said and done, Kramnik sacrificed two pieces and a pawn in all... and lost on move 29! Man, if more super-GMs start playing like this, they will be fun to watch! Here is the game with some notes of mine assisted by someone in my fishbowl who happens to be pretty good at chess (at least 3000? )
