2023/05/29 Common Mating Patterns: Battery vs X-Ray

Compare the following 2 positions:  in both, 1. Qc8+ is the winning move but is it equally easy to see in both cases?

It's my contention that the first one is easier to spot.

My thinking is that because the Rook has direct line-of-sight support of the Queen whereas in the 2nd scenario, line-of-sight is interrupted by the enemy Rook and it becomes an X-Ray type of support.

Both are equally valid but the 2nd is tougher to find.
