White has no immediate checks but can win the exchange.

1. ... Qxf1+  2. Kxf1 Rd1 doesn't work because the King can escape to e2.

But 1. ... Qd1 doesn't accomplish anything.

Oh, I see:  3. Ke2 Re1#.

• The Queen sac eliminated White's back rank defender
• The Rook check drove the King into a mating net
• The Rook checkmate was possible due to the Bishop's support and the e pawn controlling critical light escape squares
