I (Almost) Beat Vladimir Fedoseev!!!
Yes! You read that right! I almost beat the #59 in the world, Vladimir Fedoseev, in a blitz game. On chess.com, Fedoseev ( Bigfish1995 ) has a blitz rating of 3023. On lichess.org, the site that this game was played on, Fedoseev ( Feokl1995 ) has a blitz rating of 2746. So what happened? Well here's the story...
Two days ago I signed up for a blitz tournament called the PNWCC Blitz Championship 2020, hosted by PNWCC (Pacific Northwest Chess Center). If you're interested in signing up for online tournaments, check out uschesshub.com (that's where I signed up for this one). It was a 13-round blitz tournament, with a time control of 3+2. The tournament had lots of GM's signed up (42/66 registered were GM's. ) because GM's had free entry to the tournament. Therefore, I expected to play many GM's (I played 4 in total in this tournament), but I didn't expect to be paired with one of the big shots of chess!
So basically, I got paired with Fedoseev in round 4, and I got an extremely good position. I'll let the game do the rest of the talking
So basically, I suck. Like @CrowdedMonster once told me, I need to work on winning won positions. Which is exactly I need to work on. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog, and sharing my unfortunate failure against the world #59. Best of luck, readers!
