Intro:

Welcome to the second edition of MOTW! Sorry, I’ve kind of fallen behind on blogging due to tournaments and traveling… hopefully I can start posting more regularly again over the coming weeks! This week’s game was played in the Chinese National Games, a tournament that to me seems to have been overlooked by many casual chess fans - a number of the world’s elite played, including former World Chess Champion Ding Liren, Women’s World Chess Champion Ju Wenjun, GMs Wang Hao and Wei Yi, and GM Zhu Jiner, who I believe to be a top contender to dethrone Ju.

A quick side note: technically, this game isn’t a miniature (*audience boos*)… I know, I know, I shouldn’t be breaking the rules and defying the concept of the series in the second edition. However, I think this game counts as it embodies the concept of what a miniature is really well; a short game decided both by a positional crush and tactical blow. This one’s also a rapid game, and in a longer time format one would imagine a resignation would’ve come sooner. So, I hope you can forgive me…

The Game:

I’ll write (poorly) about whatever may cross my mind.
