The Best Chess Course!
Circled is my rating change after taking the course, which managed to successfully alleviate my fear of heights as it fell down a cliff.

The Best Chess Course!

Hi all! A quick mini-blog because it’s taking me some time to write my recap of the Berlin Rapid Chess Championships. I wanted to highlight a spectacular piece of chess content by GM Sam Shankland and FM James Canty III; Chess960 has skyrocketed in popularity recently and they provide a one-of-a-kind introduction, with a focus on position 518. It’s free and essentially all you need to understand how chess works. In less than a thousand words, 5 minutes of video, and  whopping two minutes of trainable courses, it’ll teach you the ways of 2.Ke2! and the AlphaZero-esque h4-h5-h6-g4-g5-f4-e3 setup seen so regularly at super-GM level. Here’s my favorite position from the course:

Note that courses for Freestyle and Fischer Random are still pending.

PS: Thanks to the authors for this great piece of chess satire. Let’s just hope no noobs stumble onto this .

I’ll write (poorly) about whatever may cross my mind.
