Hello and welcome to my latest blog post! Today I will go over how to get more members in your chess.com club!

It's a very rewarding experience to run a club. Especially as it grows in size. But sometimes, members can be hard to find. Feeling discouraged? Don't fear! I will teach you some tips to make your club explode!

Tip 1: Advertise is the Forums

The chess.com forums are a great place to communicate with a wide audience. Be sure to include links and an engaging forum topic name that hooks in members. (e.g. instead of "Join My Club" do "Like______? Join My Club and get________!"

Tip 2: Incentivize Membership

Offer something in exchange for joining. It can be something small, like trophies, or a trade, like "Join My Club and I'll Join Yours!". You can also offer admin and coordinator positions for the first few people, encouraging urgency.

Tip 3: Send Targeted Invites

Send invites to members who have usernames or descriptions that show they have similar interests. For example, if your club is the Roblox Chess Club, search up members with the keyword "Roblox" and invite them.

Tip 4: Do Something Unique

For example, in my club, Planes and Chess Club, we have a daily fact sheet on weird or interesting planes and have a special chess variant called "Dogfight Chess".  Join my club here!

Tip 5: Stay Active

High activity is crucial. Regularly post announcements, play in team matches or vote chess, and direct some special events or competitions. A club that has no activity is not a club at all.

Tip 6: Ask for User Opinions

Ask members if they would like changes or improvements made. Hold votes and polls, and have a forum topic for suggestions for the club. Members like to have a say in club activities.

Tip 7: Engage With Members

Stay engaged with members. Act like you're a member yourself. Community engagement is crucial.

Conclusion

I hope this article helps your club gain members. Feel free to advertise clubs in the comments and try your hand at persuasion. Good luck in your attempts!
