Sodium Attack (Na3)

The name "Sodium Attack" comes from the algebraic notation 1.Na3, as Na is the chemical symbol for the element sodium. This development of the Queen's Knight does little to utilize White's advantage of the first move. Angus Dunnington suggests that combining this with a gradual central expansion should give White a reasonable position.

Pros:

• Support C2 and C4 in advance.
• Serve as a bait if players want to eliminate King Bishop in early game with the help and support of its own Pawn (b2).

Cons:

• The Knight does not control the central square.
• King Bishop can take the Knight to prevent possible development in position.
• Consider as weak position and serve no real purpose by many in the early game.
• Does little to utilize White's advantage of the first move.
