The Chess.com Study Plan Chronicles
Week # 3 Day # 4 Rating 1257 + 91 on the plan. Currently on a 12 game winning streak!
This is the Chronicle of Excheqquer a chronic nonimprover, a static patzer, a languid chess player, an inert blob that stank up the 64 squares, in other words I was stock-still, and my ratings were leaden, and I decided to give the Chess.com Study Plan a test.
Okay the day's plan is some puzzles and then back to work on the Chess.com Study plan # 4 End Game. I am getting near the end of this section.
Then do a couple of videos
- Amazing Games for Beginners: Rubinstein's Endgame Brilliance by IM David Pruess --check and done. Gives some ideas that hopefully will filter into my overall chess knowledge.
- Amazing Games for Beginners: Rubi's Smooth Rook by IM David Pruess --ditto above.
and
Bishop versus Knight (Part 1) by GM Dejan Bojkov-- I will need to continue to find lessons to work on my knight and bishop work. I still have a long way to go.
- Complete puzzles 1, 2, 4 and 5
Knight Endgames (Part 1) by GM Dejan Bojkov
I hope to get a game in, but we do have some babysitting duty. so... we'll see
Music for today. I tried to find Temma Harbour by Mary Hopkins on Spotify and discovered that Spotify does not have everything. I remember this song when I was just a lad, and would like to listen to it on spotify. I did discover that Philamore Lincoln who wrote the song did a version of it. It has a very Donovan vibe. anyway on to the puzzles.
Puzzles: 1134-1405 40+ problems
and yes I did run into a problem trying to get my game in. It's called Life. In my endeavor to improve my chess I have been playing only 60 ' games or 45/45 and those both take a glob of time.
Hopefully tomorrow.
By the way a shout out to colorfulcake who has also decided to put the chess.com study plan to the test. He is rated way up above me, so you can see how two people with widely divergent skills approach the process of learning. check out colorfulcake here: Tactics Training Day 1 | Puzzle Rush - Chess.com
