Defending Against The Scholar's Mate

Hi! 

Many beginners (and some intermediates) try to mate you with the scholar's mate. If you don't know what the scholar's mate here it is;

So how to defend this? 

Well ... first if white tries this version of the scholar's mate;

But be careful, if white plays this;

knight f6 doesn't work. One thing to stop it is if white moves the bishop first you go knight f6. But if white moves the queen first;

You go Nc6. 

And then g6. If the queen goes to f3, trying again, just knight f6.

And now you've learned how to defend against the scholar's mate.
