The Fried Liver explained

The Fried Liver. The opening we love as white but hate as black.

Here is how it starts.

This is the Fried Liver Attack. The point of the opening is to fork the queen and the rook. The knight is protected by the bishop so black can only save one piece.

There are two common ways to stop this. Here is the most popular, d5;

And one thing to remember in this position ... always take with the pawn! So let's say black makes the common mistake (that many people do) Nxd5;

If black takes we sacrifice the knight! King takes, or he'll lose either the queen or the rook. Then we play Qf3+ and if black's king goes back you just take the knight on d5. But if king moves forward protecting the knight then you play Nc3. The knight is pinned. Now, let's say black moves his knight on d4 attacking your queen. Then you take the knight on d5 with your bishop.

Now if black goes to f7 there is mate in two;

But if black goes to d6 (best move) You just run away with the queen.
And now you're winning. Next you will try to castle, develop the bishop and win the game.

But now let's look at the Traxler Counterattack. I don't know a whole lot about this opening but here is what I can tell you;

Sadly this is all I know about the Traxler Counter Attack.
