YOUR Chess Pieces are YOUR Army

YOUR Chess Pieces are YOUR Army! Today folks I will demonstrate how each of the 6 different chess pieces are your own pieces of military equipment.

When we play chess, we rarely think about how the pieces move. We just move the pieces where we think best and try to win the game. For now, we are going to forget the tactics, the endgame lines, and all the rest of it.

Your pawns are like soldiers! You have more pawns than any other piece on the chess board. They are great in number. Your pawns will be on the front line of the battle, fighting other enemy soldiers (pawns) or stronger forces. Your soldiers are usually the first to be captured in battle. But like any soldier if you make it far enough (the end of the chess board), you get a promotion! You get to be one of stronger attackers!
Your soldiers are relentless, they will protect the king and keep the enemy out of your territory at any cost. They do this by teamwork.
One soldier alone cannot take on a whole army, but bunched together as a team, your pawns are mighty!
Your knights are your helicopters! You don’t have as many helicopters as you do soldiers, but your helicopters are going to be used to supplement your soldiers! Your helicopters are multi taskers, they can deliver lethal attacks on the enemy, and they can be used to defend your army against enemy strikes (checks)! Your helicopters usually don’t make it to the end, because they can not move as fast as other equipment, and cannot evade enemy “fire” as easily . Your helicopters may not move fast, but they have the most unique maneuverability of all your pieces! This maneuverability allows for what used to be complicated attacks to be a cakewalk.
Your helicopters may not have the same  teamwork as your soldiers but they are definitely more valuable than your soldiers (sometimes).

Your bishops are your fighter jets! Your fighter jets are solely made for attacking. Your fighter jets are going to engage other pieces and go for the kill., which they sometimes do with other pieces. Because of your fighter jet’s aggression, its life expectancy is low, sometimes even getting captured before soldiers. Your fighter jets can definitely defend itself, but it is not really meant for defending other equipment. Your fighter jets are meant to move! They move swiftly across the board at Mach 1! (Maybe I am exaggerating). In one move they can turn your frown upside up lol.

I would say your fighter jet is worth more than your helicopter because of its quick speed and strong choreographed attacks with its pair.
Your rooks are your tanks! They are your strongest pair of pieces! They shoot their 120mm cannon at you.. Just kidding, they don’t shoot anything! But they sometimes deliver the killing blow to the enemy (ladder mate, back rank mate). Your tanks are responsible for the protection of your king. They will make sure there are barriers (castling) between the king and the enemy. 3 soldiers sit in front of the king, and one tank beside the king while the war wages. Your tanks usually make it to the final battle (endgame). The enemy tries to get closer to the king and break down that barrier. Once the main battle (middle game) is finished, the soldiers and the tank that were left to protect the king, leave the king’s side and join up with their allies and fight till one king is killed (checkmate literally means kill the king). Your tanks don’t move as uniquely as your helicopters, tanks only have a forward backward left right motion. But tanks also have endurance, and will not falter under pressure

Your tanks are second to the next piece of equipment we will talk about. If you ever lose your tanks it nearly always means ultimate doom.

Your queen is a nuclear bomb, the strongest piece of military equipment you have. Your nuclear bomb is meant to destroy the enemy, which I believe +90% of the time it does. Your nuclear bomb is not going to stick around and protect your king like your tanks do, it is going to go to the other side of the board and try to “blow up” in the enemy’s face. Just like real nuclear weapons, your “nuclear bomb” aka the queen is meant to be used carefully. We don’t want to use our most powerful weapon right at the start of the game, and risk losing it! We want to save it for just the right moment, then….

KABOOOM!!!!!!!!!

Your enemy’s king and entire army is gone. Good chess players make sure their nuclear bomb lasts for as long as it can until the right time comes to use it. Your nuke can move in any direction. Doesn’t matter how far the enemy runs, the nuke will reach them and take them out.

Losing your nuclear weapons is a fatal blunder, there is absolutely no surviving.
But, death only comes once the enemy takes out your final piece…

Your king is your general! Your general is not meant to fight, but to lead. All your other chess pieces revolve around your general. When playing chess, YOU are the leader! Your general can fight when necessary. This requires strategy though. There is a winning strategy, but one mistake will allow the enemy to slip through the cracks and find the path to victory. Are YOU a good leader? Have you ever let your “soldiers” down? If you haven’t, ever let your “soldiers” down, you are a downright liar. Everyone loses battles, but after losses you pick yourself up, learn from your mistakes, and look on to the horizon! Failure is one of the greatest teachers in chess, let it teach you and guide you. Only then will you be a great leader.

Thanks for reading this! I hope this helps you visualize your pieces better!

I would love some feedback in the comments below!
