There are 36 checkmate patterns out there performed in every chess game and one of them is the Anastasia's mate in which either white or black delivers checkmate using a rook and a knight on an open h-file or a-file. The Anastasia's mate got its name from a novel by W. Heinse, Anastasia and Chess (1803). In Round 1, World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen rated 2450 in year 2003 with the black pieces against fellow norwegian Jon Ludvig Hammer demonstrates a beautiful and disgusting Anastasia's mate in the World Youth Championship 2003. In the game shown below, they played the Indian Game: Wade-Tarkatower opening perfectly and on No. 15 young Magnus Carlsen played Rae8👍 in which Jon Ludvig Hammer played Be3?? a blunder, Magnus then respond with Rxe4! a great move which prepares the intention of the Anastasia's mate and the final mistake of the game, Jon Ludvig Hammer played Re1? and Magnus Carlsen completes his Anastasia's mate in a beautiful way by sacrificing the Queen in playing Qh5+ (+ means check) only move gxh5 (x means takes) and Rh4# (# means checkmate) ends the game by Magnus age 13 in year 2003 with a 97.9 accuracy over 100.
