"Good Pieces and Bad Pieces"
The are two types of chess pieces beside from white and black and that is if it is either a good piece/s or a bad piece/s. To identify if you have a good piece or a bad piece is to evaluate its activity or how many squares it covers or control. A good bishop controls alot of squares and has good activity just like this:
However, bad bishops don't control a lot of squares and mostly covered by pawns like this:
A good knight is stick on a square called an outpost that cannot be kicked by a piece and also covers a lot of squares like in the picture below:
The example picture of a bad knight:
A good rook takes control of an open vertical line called a file and is connected to each other which is called the battery of the rooks, it is also clear that you are winning if you control the 7th rank as white or the 2nd rank as black. Example pictures of a good rook:

Similar to the picture look at the bad rooks:

Of course the royal couple also can be determine as bad pieces of good pieces depending on their activity, safety, and squares controlled. Pawns can be classified too as good or bad depending on its structure and how many islands they contain.
Why do you need to determine if you have bad or good pieces? Easy, that is because having the good pieces help you improve your position that can lead to a win but having bad pieces give you an edge against your opponent. Having good pieces or bad pieces can decide 30% in your win rate in chess. - CM FBL09 (2036) 🇵🇭 ![]()
