My best performance in a chess tournament

1 of june 2024 Escola grevol Barcelona.

Today i will share with you the story of how i won my first chess trophy that was a very important day in my life and i would love to tell you.

So it was early in the morning, i wake up i prepare myself for the tournament and meet up with my team, we get a taxi and we go to Escola grevol (grevol school).

Our team was composed by Gerard a really good friend, Eric Gerard's brother, Max my brother and me. Because Gerard and me were the only u12 in our team we were in a slight disadvantage but Eric and max have lots of potential so its kinda compensated. I wasn't the best player in my team but i had the most elo since earlier i had positioned 5 of all schools in catalonia so i had great chances of doing a good tournament.

Something i have to mention is that in this tournament they weren't clocks, you had 15 minutes to win the game and if the time finished who had more points over the board winned, and if it was equal it was a draw.

So in the first round we played against a team of younger boys that we easely trashed away so we had 3 points (1 for each win).

In the second round we won 2 and a half to half point because i was stalled nearly 13 minutes, you se i had a super dominant postion but my oponent stalled all the game and since we had the same material the game was a draw.

In the third round we won 3-0, nothing to mention really, my oponent resigned quiklly.

But in the fourth round we were paired with kenzington school our rivals and we were tied 1-1 until i won my game through a brilliant sacrifice putting un in 1st place.

In the fifth round we were nervous because we wanted to keep our 1st place and win the trophy but we managed to win 2-1 with an other of my brilliant sacrifices that lead to a huge material win for me, and later he resigned.

only one round to go, we were nearly celebrating we were 2 and a half points ahead from kenzington that was in 2nd place, if we managed to win at least 1 game we would win the tournament!

But max got an early win securing our 1st place and later Gerard and me won our games too!

We were at last winners of the tournament.

I have played tournaments of a higher category and level but i talked about this one because i remember it as my best tournament of all my chess career.
