The Importance of Thinking
Hello, all. I'm going to talk today about how we all need to spend time thinking. Personally, I think I make many moves on impulse. In one game, I had just been put in check, so I foolishly moved my king without thinking. It opened me to a dangerous discovered attack. I lost my queen, and my resignation followed a few moves afterward. 9 out of 10 games I lose are because I don't think about my moves. I will make a bad move and lose a couple turns later. I am now making an effort to try to think at least 3 minutes before making a move. One world champion in correspondence chess said that you should spend 3 hours thinking about each of your moves! Since I really can't only make 4 or 5 moves a day, even if they might be really good moves, I have decided to start slow and try to increase my time over, well, time. I hope this article has helped some of you to manage your time better. Thanks for reading!
