How to CRUSH the Caro Kann opening!
Well, this is a blog that has been months in the making, the story of how I, a measly 1800 roughly elo level player managed to create an opening and with over 100 games with it on chess.com has amassed a 70% win rate, and most lines of this opening actually have brilliant sacrifices in it. So here is a quick guide to the theory, and the story behind it. Ill dive more in depth if you guys want me to.
First off you may be asking, how in the world can you make up an opening?
Well, you dont have to be a genius. I had a weakness to the Caro Kann, and I had a hard time beating it in my roughly 6000 games of chess, so I dived into the masters database and found an obscure yet solid gambit, known as the Von Hennig Gambit. The first thing I noticed was the lack of any theory online about it that I could find, It was regarded as an interesting line, a surprise, with immediate compensation and if they didnt fall for the 2 main line traps then you would have a very solid game with lots of attacking chances. After exploring It I devised the move f3. Which develops the knight, allows the king to castle, and opens up the rook for an attack. I played around with it and eventually developed theory for it, so without further ado, here is the theory thus far:
This is one of 2 of the starting points, they can also play 4... Bf5 or even 4... e6, but this is the main starting point which I will explore, here are the 3 main lines that come out of the Nf6 variant.
Ok, thats a pretty deep dive into some of the lines that result from Nf6, if I get 5 comments on the blog, ill make a way more in depth one to explain this. But with that over, here are the other 2 lines which I will very briefly go over.
Now you are starting to see the ideas and power behind this opening, I will now post a game of my own with a 3rd variation, and how I pulled off the win.
This was a game against a fairly strong blitz player, around 1600. Which to some reading this seems like a crazy level, but he got absolutely crushed in that game.
Now, what to take away from this? I hope everyone who read this enjoys it and can add this as a fun weapon to your opening repertoire, ill post a more in depth one and answer any of your questions if I get 5 comments on this! Thank you all for reading this, and good news, ill start releasing more blogs about fun openings I have come across to absolutely crush openings and gain elo like crazy!
See yall at the next blog! Peace out
