NEW PC UPDATE! ๐Ÿˆastrophe! ๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿ™€ [alt title: RAGE]

OK, lots of you were asking for an update on this, so here it is.

Meowdy, badger here! No intro is needed, we're diving right in. Better start swimming or you'll drown, heheheheee...

As some of you may know, for the past few months I've been restricted to playing online chess on a phone that is heavily controlled by my parents. Now before you ask the question, "Badger, why don't you just play on a computer?" KNOW THAT I DON'T HAVE A COMPUTER OF MY OWN TO PLAY ON, MY OLD 2011 LAPTOP THAT I GOT 2 YEARS AGO BROKE QUITE A WHILE BACK!! At least, I didn't have a computer of my own....

As some of you ALSO may know, a little over 3 months ago I started working my first job as a tire technician at a tire shop. Well, ever since the day my laptop broke over a year ago, I told myself to not be upset, that I would eventually get myself the most LOADED, EPIC, PHENOMENAL NEW GAMING PC, not a cheap laptop that barely worked. I would sit and think how well it would handle any task I threw at it. And now, after all those days saving quite literally almost every cent I earned each week, those days spent waiting and dreaming of what could be, I turned those dreams into reality.

A week and a half ago, my brand new, $2200 EPIC gaming PC and monitor came in. Since I haven't yet, I'll list the specs here:

Monitor: 27" QHD 1440p OLED monitor, 360hz refresh rate

PC: Ryzen 9 7900x, 2 TB SSD, 64 GB DDR5(upgradable to 128 GB), NVidia Gforce 4070 Ti Super 16 GB

You can probably imagine my excitement as hands trembling, I slowly proceeded to unbox my monitor from the brand new packaging. I quickly set up my monitor and moved on to the box that contained the PC. I quickly removed the PC from the box and got rid of all the protective foam on the inside, and got to work plugging in my mouse and keyboard, as well as connecting it to my monitor.

After I checked to make sure no cables were bumped loose on the inside, I plugged it into the wall outlet, turned on my monitor, and I was there. The moment I had been waiting for with such painstaking patience had finally arrived. I slowly moved to hit the power button, thoughts swirling off all the games and tasks I could complete with this beast of a PC. With a subtle click from the power button, a gentle whir of wind came from the inside of the computer as the RGB fans turned on,  brightly illuminating the other components in bright hues of red, green, blue, orange, and yellow. I smiled to myself as I waited for the display to connect, my thoughts and mood at the peak of the universe. And waited. And waited. And realized, with a start of dismay, that the computer wasn't connecting to the display.

The dismay was short lived, however, as I quickly shrugged any feelings of doubt off of my shoulders, cracked my knuckles, and got to work trying to solve the issue. A quick search revealed that the monitor was not the problem, so I looked at the PC. I figured that the DisplayPort port that was bridging the connection between the PC and monitor was bad, so I switched the cable from the port that it was currently plugged in to another. Stepping back, I powered the PC up again, expecting to be greeted by a loadup screen on the monitor. And yet, the monitor display still stayed dark, no data being transferred into it for it to display.

Frowning, I unplugged the monitor cable from the PC and switched it yet again to a third and different port. And it still bore the same results: a blank,  dark screen of nothingness showing up when the PC was powered on.

The small feeling of dismay from earlier returned, this time accompanied by a sinking, sickening feeling of dread. I tossed the displayport cable to the side and decided to try an HDMI cable - the only other option, my last hope and resort.

I swiftly plugged the HDMI cable into the PC and the monitor. Stepping back with a deep breath, and muttering a quick "StarClan help me" under my breath, I powered the PC on for a fourth time. And again, for the fourth time, the monitor stayed a dead black screen of nothingness.

A few days later, I contacted the manufacturer for support to try to fix the issue. The "help" I received over the phone was about as mouse-brained and unhelpful as you can get. Basically, I was told if it was defected, I could return it to the website I bought it from, or I could pay $200 in shipping to have them try to fix the problem on a PC that already cost over $2000. As you can imagine, I returned the PC to Amazon (where I bought it from) and got a full return and refund on it.

Welcome to a sneak preview of my life. I get a 750+ win streak in puzzle duel, just to have my phone lag and take it away from me. *literal utter confusion from you readers unless you follow chesskid puzzle duel* I use a broken laptop for almost 2 years, dreaming of the days of having a loaded gaming PC, only to have it come in broken. I was brokenhearted, sad, my mood shoved down into the deep realms of despair and agony, where nary a soul ever got a glimpse of Lethal Company or heard the explosion of a puzzle duel win. Was I entirely defeated by this loss? ABSOFREAKINLUTELY NOTT!! YOU KNOW ME BY NOW(or you should. What's wrong with you, freak?!) AND KNOW THAT I WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED BY ANYTHING BREAKING OR NOT WORKING OUT MY WAY, HAHAHA HAHA!!!! ~--ahem. Pardon, where was I? Ah yes.

So there I was, on the precipice of doom, the quarry filled with the empty skeletons of the PCs that had failed to serve their purpose below them, and mine about to join them--err, sorry, I got a liddle carried away ๐Ÿ˜…

I made my way back over to Amazon and restarted the process of looking for new gaming PCs with similar specs to the one I had originally purchased. With the help of some irl friends and my boss at work, I had a list of alternative options to choose from in no time. One by one I eliminated the options on the list, never quite finding the perfect specs and PC for me. UNTIL, one day, I saw her. Brilliant RGB lights that lit up your inner soul. Fur and eyes that reflected the moonlight, claws trimmed to perfection, and a sweet scent like fresh blosso--

As I was saying, the RGB lights with all their light and power, and the specs? Literally the exact same as my original, with the only differences being: the PC shipped with 32 GBs of RAM and not 64, however, still upgradeable to 128 GB. -and- it was about $200 cheaper. Additionally, the manufacturer was much more well known than the first one, a difference of over +800 more positive reviews. I made the purchase, and spent the $200 that was left over on additional RAM, effectively getting an even better deal than what I had gotten for my first PC.

CONCLUSION

And that pretty much wraps up the story to this date of my new PC update! There is a lesson and a good moral to be gained from this: whenever things go south, or life isn't going your way, don't despair, never give up! Sometimes, you just have to be patient, or maybe try switching your perspective. I'm going to be waiting a few more weeks now for a new PC, true, but what more is a few weeks after 2 years? The longer wait will make the victory all the sweeter when my PC finally arrives (NOT broken or I will ACTUALLY CLOSE MY ACCOUNT)

As a final note, the second PC is scheduled to arrive at my house anywhere from December 28th 2024 - January 10th 2025. It's kinda unfortunate that it won't come in before Christmas, but at this point, I'm grateful that it'll come in at all.
