Hello everyone and welcom back to the "Main Chess Openings" series. This is part 3, we have already covered the King's Pawn Opening, The Wayward Queen, The Italian Game, The Nepoleon Attack, The Spanish Game, and The Fools Mate. Anyways, let's get into it.

7.The Caro Kann Defence

The Caro Kann is a pretty solid opening, I first heard of it when in a vote chess game @hiryanli mentioned it. It goes like this:

The Caro Kann defence does not delay the development of any piece, and it also creates a more solid Pawn stucture than some other opening.
In the chess board above I listed the variation deprived from the Caro Kann Main Line. I will explain some of them a bit more. The Classical Variation is the most often used, and is considered one of the best responces. The h5 pawn, however may become a wekness in the endgame. In the Main Line Exchange Variation is often considered to provide White with a better endgame. It's strategies, are also similar to the Queen's Gambit Declines but colours reversed. In the Bronstein Larson Variation Black opts in for a wose pawn structure and takes away the chance of King Side Castling for the increased mobility of the Rook and The g file.
8.The Queens Gambit
The Queen's Gambit is one of the oldest opening that's still used today,
Above are the Main Variations for the Queen's Gambit. The Queen's Gambit Declines is the mose common variation and also the main line. The Queen's Gambit Accepted is not used as much as the Declined, but also a pretty solid line. The Marshall Defence is not that great a move, and Frank Marshall, the deviser of that move abondaned it after a short period of playing it.
9.The Caro Kann Smothered Mate
There is a common(actually not that common) trap that can be played.
The move Qe2 is not a very good move, but it does create a very powerful threat. In this position black did not notice it and allowed White to Smother Mate black.
