The 2023 Chess.com Daily Chess Championship had me paired against 11 opponents in round 1. From those 11, five participated. After the completion of those ten games coach shared his insight with me:

Sudden  Great win! You saw your chance and took it. x6

Giveaway  Nice comeback win! x2

Giveaway  One player was winning, but then gave it away.

Sudden  A close game that was lost by a mistake.

My lastest 10 victories outside of the championship coach had this to share:

Wild  A wild game - and you came out on top! x3

Giveaway  Nice comeback win! x2

Sudden  Great win! You saw your chance and took it. x2

Giveaway  One player was winning, but then gave it away.

Sharp  That was a real battle - but you earned the win!

Intense  Nice win. You were never in trouble.

And my lastest ten losses:

Sudden  One mistake made all the difference. x3

Intense  Tough game. Your opponent played well. x2

Intense  That was a serious game! x2

Wild  A back and forth fight that didn't go your way.

Giveaway  You fought back, but not quickly enough.

Giveaway  Looks like that game slipped through your fingers.

Sudden and Giveaway game shapes are more common at my level where games are often decided by one move mistakes and blunders. So how can I use game shape information to improve? Play less mistakes and blunders? Punish your opponent's mistakes and blunders? Easy to say, hard to apply. Coach what do you think?
