What is "Business Meets Chess & Kids"

It is a social initiative, created by the Swedish-Colombian Grandmaster Pontus Carlsson, in order to facilitate integration and foster togetherness with chess as the bridging tool! The idea of the initiative is to create mutually beneficial meetings across borders by connecting business executives with kids from the inner-city communities. Business Meets Chess & Kids is active in Sweden, Kenya and USA, and we are looking to expand it to more states in USA as well as to other countries.

How is it done?

We do it by organizing a public tandem chess tournament where each kid gets paired up with a business executive, they then play tandem chess together in a tournament against other equally composed teams. Practically it means that they play each other move without communicating about the moves.

* The initiative fosters togetherness by challenging prejudices and preventing racism since we make chess beneficial and accessible for everyone.
