THE TROMPOWSKY OPENING EXPLAINED.
The trompowsky attack contains the moves: 1.d4, 1.Nf6, 2.Bg5
White develops the dark-squared bishop on the second move putting pressure to the black's knight. White immediately threatens to take the knight on f6 damaging black's pawn structure. Black can either let white double their pawn structure or avoid it as both lines are perfectly fine.
The trompowsky is also very good to catch some players off guard. Although there are very aggressive lines for white, there are also some positional lines where white exchanges their dark-squared bishop for the knight and places their central pawns on dark squares having a very fine and respectable position in the opening.
Also the good thing is that there is not a lot of theory to learn and you can memorize it very fast. White can play both aggressively or positionally it's up to you to decide what your play style is.
