How I Learned Chess
For several years, I REFUSED to learn how to play chess. My father kept asking “but don’t you want to learn how to play chess?”, and I kept on saying no, until in May one year, his friend came into town and got presents for everybody. Mine was a travel chess set. Then I learned how, he and my father taught me, and I remember that 1st game of chess I played yet, I played black (so my father and his friend could show me a move), and it ended in a rook’s checkmate, and the final position of that game is shown below:
I must still thank my father’s friend for bringing me that game, which is now by far my favorite of all games.
