In game one top seed GM Magnus Carlsen was matched against GM Tigran L Petrosian in which under time pressure the Armenian Grandmaster collapsed under time pressure and the fact of been two pawns down.

In Game 3 a surprising upset with GM Narayanan Sunildath Lyna beating the former 2021 World Rapid Champion GM Nordirbek Abdusattorov.
Abdusattorov had let Narayanan get away with one to many pawns during the endgame which led to his downfall after a 39 move game.
